Re: “Without funds and training, special ed often can fall short,” July 12 news story. Props to The Post for its Sunday article on special ed programs and funding. It’s good to know others are finding out the truth about the troubles we experience. The overall financial problem in public schools and the reason why each school in the state of Minnesota is asking local taxpayers to pass a referendum is because the legislature is shifting more and more school district funding to the local districts. Schools are being asked to do more and more each year, and have not been given the finances to keep up. This is called an unfunded mandate. I recommend checking it out when you have a chance. The column I read was a great perpective on Baal Teshuvas and their integration into the Frum community.
