Cerebral palsy is caused by damage to the part of the brain that controls coordination and muscle control. The majority of cerebral palsy symptoms are not the same for every child, since there are three distinct types of the condition. A child’s symptoms will depend heavily on which type he or she has. The three types are ataxic, atethoid and spastic; with spastic cerebral palsy being further categorized into spastic diplegia, spastic hemiplegia or spastic quadriplegia; depending on the limbs affected.

In his post Reality Check: Anti-Patent Patent Musings Simply Bizarre , patent attorney Gene Quinn is baffled that any patent attorney would openly oppose the patent system–or be hired by anyone. He writes, in part: But what has me really wondering is how and why a patent attorney who is openly hostile to the patent system can get any work in the industry? I should be working on my novel instead of this blog post. However, the writing and the research that has been required to write this novel has been very hard for me. It is about an autistic poker player. I would prefer not to go into more detail other than that. I have now written approximately 59,000 words which I am estimating is a little more than half a first draft. It has been very hard to apply myself and carry out this task. There is a good chance I will never get much further than what I have now.

In these tight fiscal times, we need Medford School Committee members that can advocate for programs, can meet with parents in the school yard, in the playground, and online with technology. We need members that can lobby our State House delegates and assist them with bills and research and provide a pulse for this community as being a watchdog for all children. We need school committee people that will stop talking about yesterday and begin talking about tomorrow. We can do better.
