I remember growing up watching kid’s game shows like Funhouse and Double Dare .  I always wanted to go on those shows.  One of the reasons I wanted to go on them so badly was because of one majestic prize that always seemed to be offered on them.  The Shopping Spree.  They would always have like Toys R’ Us shopping sprees where you could grab as much stuff as would fit in a shopping cart, or as much stuff as you could grab in 2 minutes.  That shit looked epic! As a terribly immature man I am constantly looking to relive my childhood.  Who am I kidding, I have barely even aged past 14.  But the fact remains I have never gone on a shopping spree.  Until this weekend that is.

I used to live out in Preston, which is frankly one and the same with Fall City (they share a main road in fact- Preston/Fall City Road). I loved this area…I loved how rural and mountainous it felt. I loved that the land opened up and farm plots quickly replaced business complexes, pick-up trucks outnumbered BMW’s, tobacco was more common than chewing gum. Five or six years back I rented a small house here and in my driveway, I would lay out on the hood of my car at night and cherish how close the sky felt, how dark it was.

So, we wake up in the morning and spend a leisurely morning at the cabin.    We bought breakfast stuff and other food at a Kroger on the way to the cabin on Monday.    Play around at the cabin some.. and eat lunch there as well     We then headed to town. He was thrilled to be taking pictures.. can’t you tell? We went to the dinosaur walk museum next.   We really enjoyed this!   If you have kids that aren’t that into museums and such and like more “exciting things” I wouldn’t recommend this and if you go take the time to read the information about each dinosaur and take your time..

I have not seen Michael Moore’s latest film  Capitalism: A Love Story. Therefore this is certainly  not a movie review, for those who might have been expecting one. After what I have read recently, however, about the content of the movie – particularly it’s  Catholic content, it is something I think I am going to have to see for myself. An  article in The Guardian (for which I tip my hat to Facebook friend Brennan Hartley for) explores the presence of Catholic social teaching in Moore’s latest film, and in what may be a shock to at least some folks, Moore’s professed Catholicism.
