In reply to Carenne Gate: Peter Harvey orders cover-up prior to investigation : Are the children allowed to leave the pen of their own free will? If not, unlawful imprisonment might describe this nicely. Even the name given to the area is derogatory. CHILDREN ARE NOT ANIMALS. These people are employed in special education - they should expect challenges. I am guessing as Peter Harvey has ordered for the restraints to be removed that he knows they are illegal.

The root cause of an adult learning disability/dyslexia stems in the brain, where the portions that affect reading are weakened. Currently, the only way to cope with the defect is to take a dyslexia test, get a diagnosis and learn about different teaching and learning methods to make life easier. Since the completion of the human genome project, researchers have also identified defects in 4 to 10 genes that lead to the faulty wiring.

Scientific research on this subject is lacking, also on an international level, but experience indicates that chess stimulates social, emotional and cognitive development. Stumping for passage of a TABOR-like ballot initiative in Maine, former Governor Bill Owens had this to say about education funding in Colorado this week:
“Our spending per student is in the mid-range of the country. Our results are better than that, our college graduation rate’s among the best in the country, and the claim that public education has been devastated is factually incorrect, and I would say it’s a lie.”
As an organization that was created by parents who were alarmed by

Teachers, like most people, have a reputation in your community. This teacher is “the nice one” and that teacher is “the structured one.” Depending on your child’s personality, talents and challenges, you decide that your child absolutely must have “this teacher” in order to be successful. When your child gets assigned to “that teacher’s” class, you fret and worry about how he or she will ever survive the year.

More from Tesla Downunder Curtis Mayfield, “Future Shock” (click to listen or download). On Monday, October 26, 2009 the Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education will consider and pass budget amendments and finalize the tax levy . Most of what is before the Board are good solutions to a situation — cuts in state aid combined with a lower than anticipated allowable revenue limit – that has no great solutions. I worry that if things aren’t handled correctly there will be future shocks.

Cheryl Lynn Moyer in Maui In My Nanu’s House The wood floors were daily swept clean. In a cast iron pot, cabbage soup slowly simmered. In moth balled boxes, colorful hats with feathers waited. Newspaper filled the cracks around the chimney. Crooked hands curled around rosary beads. cracked lips mumbled “Hail Mary’s” for contrition from shrouded priests, confessing sins of omission. Most of our secrets were never told. Water that splashed over ivory soup, bubbled me clean.

Guest post from: Jennifer Laviano There is no way to describe how much blogging has changed the way I practice law. When I first met Grant, who did an amazing job creating my site Special Ed Justice , he gave me a number of “tips.” I remember him telling me that, within a short period of time after getting a successful blog up and running, I would be getting a lot of new clients from my blog. I sort of believed him, since he’d come highly recommended, and let’s face it, that’s part of why lawyers blog.

Over the last several years I have been observing and commenting on the budgeting processes and spending as managed by the Woodstock Board of Finance. * Over 80% of adolescents engage in some form of deviant behavior * Over 50% of high-school seniors admit to having used drugs * Only 10%-15% of the population develop drug addiction problems related to their drug use. If the majority of teens experiment with drug use, and so few eventually develop drug addiction problems, should we be focusing on something other than stopping kids from trying drugs? The anti-drug action campaign focused on “just saying no,” but that failed to be effective.
